All original AKG C12 handcrafted in 1955 Serial under #007!

A super rare AKG C12 (aka Siemens SM204) with a unique beefy T14 transformer and its particular sound timbre. The experienced and reputable vintage mic expert Andreas Grosser in Berlin, Germany ascertained my C12's adherence to original specs and health! - Regarding to Konrad Wolf’s estimation in 2010, the inventor of the “C12”, not more than 200 ’Siemens’- and ‘Telefunken (250/251)’ badged C12's have been handcrafted. (The real numbers are lost in history because of various reasons.)

AKG had two genuine CK-12 capsule designs. This 1955 C12 has a early "flat" resonator on the backplate. In 1959 AKG went from a flat backplate resonator to the first in a series with deep resonators. The upper mids and the high end of the mic were affected markedly through this change, but both types of C12's and their CK-12 capsules sound brilliant! The early flat model sounds very enticing, just a bit more lush and subtle. I would use the attributes a little more mellow and velvety. This CK-12 belongs to the circa 35% of all CK-12 capsules today which still perform to factory specs. Very rare and impossible to get except this one! It took me 13 years to to find an amazing C12 like this!

I purchased it in 2010 from a expensive but trusted seller in Germany.

If I sell my C12 I want my investment back or I'm happy to keep this 1950's gem because I don't have to sell it.

The original AKG CK-12 capsule sounds wonderful. It has a bit spit and dust on it as you can see in the pictures but this makes it even more valuable since this means the capsule has never been cleaned and has not experienced any harm. This is very rare these days! If you buy it NEVER clean it and it'll keep its value!

The tube is the original General Electric 6072 tube and works wonderful!

The mic comes with the original heavy AKG swivel mount which was refurbished done the right way. It is the original heavy AKG swivel mount not a light weighted replica!

The mic also comes with a new Andreas Grosser Power Supply Unit and a new 10 m Gotham cable and metal spring.

THE unique beefy OUTPUT TRANSFORMER makes this C12 even more rare
than any vintage Telefunken ELA M 251 made by AKG in Vienna, Austria as well!

Usually Siemens SM204 came with a thick T14 "V 2148", or a "V 2311" transformer but this one has a super rare and even thicker Rhode & Schwarz "V 2545" transformer which gives the mic more robust mids and bass. The top end sound very enticing, just a bit more lush and subtle compared to the top end of the anemic looking T14/1 model. More velvety.

You can see a comparison picture on this page to compare it with my C12's "V 2545" transformer.
